Grow Grapes Southern California

Home Vineyard Growing Wine Grapes at Home

Hello and welcome to my home vineyard Let's get a lay of the land. As you can see thisis just a simple side yard it's got about 55 feet of space long twentysix feet of space wide we elected to go with twenty twofoot long rows northsouth facing uh. the rows are spaced about five feet apartto give us ample space for the vines to grow

and for us to manage and walk through we are planting about four plants per row to give it plenty of space to spread out and grow for the rows, we used uh. just simple fenceposts these are eightfoot fence post sunk about threefeet deep we tried to go about two feet deep butit wasn't uh. it just simply wasn't stable enough so we went that extra foot for stability

the wire is fourteen gauge wire uh. we elected to go with the verticaltrellising partly because it was easier and partlybecause uh. the north south facing rows, it allow it to get sun at all hours of the day uh. we have a drip irrigation linesran along the bottom we will be using half gallon per hour drips two per plant that allows us to adjust the water

water flow and manage the irrigation a littleeasier than if we used a heavier flow we'll actually be planting syrah grapes because we tend to be in a warmer, drier climateduring the summer doing something like pinot noirwould require greater cooler temperatures. that sort of thing that's our vineyard. We'll be planting the grapes nextweek and we'll come back then.

The California Garden In July Summer Harvest Month in 4K

in the monthly gardening series oftutorials today we will look at the California garden in the month of julythis month the garden has a lot of summer plantsgrowing and it's one of the best months for harvesting a lot of vegetables this tutorial is divided into four sections we will first take a look at the gardentour we will take a look at the harvest thatwe made we will then take a look at what's growing in the California gardenin the month of july and finally we will

look at some things that you need to do inyour garden this month after harvesting our red onions we planted some emerald okra in this bedand this is the okra that has been growing for a while now and it'sproducing excellent okra pods this is the tomato bed as you can see we're growing a lot ofvarieties of tomatoes and this is what i call my tomato jungle in this bed we had garlic harvested andthen we planted some bush beans

this is our corn bed the Triple Crownhybrid variety and we have had a lot of corn from this bed we then move on to the peppers andeggplant bed which produced a lot of poblano peppers and some deliciouseggplants now let's look at some of the harveststhat we made hyacinth beans we've been growing thesebeans for the past few months now and they're producing very well in July asyou can see here the harvest looks pretty good

these beans are eaten with the pods wholeand it is absolutely delicious we also planted a lot of bush beans infive gallon containers and it was a pretty good option we were able to harvest a lot of bushbeans from these containers for about a month or maybe a bit more but they dostop producing after some time because they are Bush type of beans unlikebeans that are vining beans which produce for a much longer time but forthe space that they use this is a very good option you can plant about threeplants in every five gallon container

and that will produce a lot of beans foryou now let's look at Asparagus beans weposted a tutorial on this last week we showed you how to grow those beans andwe were able to harvest a lot of asparagus beans through the month of julythese beings produce a lot of these long beans also called yard long beans and wewere able to get a great harvest from this container of asparagus beans we also harvested a lot of blueberries we have a small blueberry bush growingin a container

this is the sharp blue variety ofblueberry which produces a small to mediumblueberries and for the most part our blueberries are quite small but they arevery sweet and they're absolutely delicious and a month of July they producea lot of blueberries that can be harvested here you can see the harvest they are freshdelicious and very sweet although summer is not the best seasonfor growing carrots we did plant this atomic red variety ofcarrot in this whiskey barrel container and in the month of July they hadmatured enough to be harvested
